“Books That Inspire You”
is a section on this siteI really enjoyed creating.  The books listed there have helped me through the years, not just with my writing, but with my life overall.  I have chosen to place  Riches Within Your Reach on this page.  Our minister recommended to each member to read this excellent book.  I have read it, several times, and through the years, I go back to it, ever finding some new ideas or insights.  The book is packed with so many tools for finding the positiveness in yourself and for working to overcome practically any situation in your life.  It is  chapter 19: "The Master Formula for Getting What You Want"  that made me write out and focus on my sense of direction clearer than I ever had before.  I encourage you to experience the riches within your reach that this book contains.

Carnegie’s  How to Stop Worrying and Start Living is timeless.    I’ll never forget being  led to this book in one of those strange occurrences, when as Collier basically says, in Riches Within Your Reach, “what you are seeking for, is being drawn to you”  It seemed like I was worrying  just out of the habit of worrying.  I think I had Carnegie’s other book about winning friends and influencing people, and I saw this book listed in that one. I thought, this is the one I need.  I’ll never forget how  his discussion about putting each problem in its own little compartment made me feel physically and mentally better, the moment I  committed myself to doing  it.

Think and Grow Rich is in the public domain. I posted the audio file here because this book is easy to listen to as an audio. The relationship between the author and his son, who suffered from a disability, is a story within itself and makes this book worth reading or listening to.  I think what I enjoyed most is the humanness of the author.

Hypno-Cybernetics is a fairly  unknown book.  The subject matter deals with working with your Subconscious Mind to help you master almost any situation. The hand-raising technique involved is worth taking the challenge to see if you can perfect it and take advantage of this partnership between your two minds.

The Complete System of Self-Healing
is a powerhouse of simple physical exercises based mainly on deep breathing.  There are exercises to help stimulate circulation, to strength and tighten the abdominal muscles without sit-ups, to exercise the heart while sitting or standing practically anywhere.  If you’re at the computer a lot, there are dozens of exercises you can take a moment from your keyboard  and do.

Ancient Secrets of the Fountain of Youth contains about five simple stretching exercises that are said to help get all your  chakras moving in harmony. The explanation is that when this happens, the body is returning to its youthful state. What I can personally say is that I feel so much better and so much more energized when I perform these exercises. I might even suggest to myself that when I am consistent with them, I do indeed look younger.  If that's  just an illusion, that’s okay, too.

Trine’s In Tune With the Infinite presents such a universal, yet personal, discussion of God, I could not leave it out. He has a powerful affirmation at the beginning of the book.  Our minister asked each of us to memorize and meditate upon this statement until its revelation comes to us.  The revelation  comes to me, in varying  degrees.  Then there are times, when I feel I'm out of touch with it, and I  go back to the statement, seeking a refilling of this awareness.

I know that there are a lot of motivational speakers out there who have quoted from some of these books and have built entire financial empires on the teachings, concepts and ideas contained within them.   But I am so thrilled to be able to experience these original concepts as I found them in most of the books I’ve listed here. To me, there is a straightforwardness and simplicity to these texts that, of course, would not be in later works that have  their own positionings and adaptations added to provide what it is felt readers want to hear today.  So, don't hesitate to look into these works for yourself.

Enjoy,

Kathy
